Step 4 Adding your Storage in Hitachi Ops Center
Lets add your Storage Array to the various products. For this you'll need your array login details. If you dont
know what this is you can lookup the default credentials via the QR Code at the back of your storage array.
Login to your deployed Ops Center instance by accessing:
https://<DNS or IP>/portal.
Administrator
Onboarding your Storage
Click on the Administrator product in Ops Center. Next up select 'Storage Systems' on the left and then the '+'. Specify your SVP/ESM or Controller IP along with Username and Password to onboard your storage array. Give it a couple of minutes to register your array. If you have any hosts created on the embedded UI, these will automatically be pulled into Ops Center Administrator.
Connecting Administrator to Protector
Lets configure the connection to protector to enable GAD creation in Ops Center Administrator. You'll need:
- IP of the Ops Center VM, the one in the url bar by default
- The port for Protector, default it shows 443, but the default on Ops Center OVA is
20964 - Username of the local machine - usually
root@master - The password you set after your first login before your ran the
opsvmsetupcommand.
Automator
Let's quickly add our CMRest server that got deployed with Ops Center so we can use this in our other products like Analyzer and Protector.
Adding your Configuration Manager instance in Automator:
If you navigate to Automator, then Administration inside the product. You can select the 'Web Service Connections' and add a "Configuraiton Manager" service under the Category section. You should also supply:- Name - Can be anything you want to call this instance
- IP/Hostname - You can copy the hostname in the url bar
- Protocol - Can be http or https
- Port - 23450 for http or 23451 for https
- Username to login to the storage array like for instance
maintenance - Password to login to the storage array
Adding your storage array to Configuration Manager
Next we can add our array to the Configuration Manager rest service. By selecting "Configuration Manager Settings", you can select the name of the instance you added and then selecting 'Register'. Next you can:
- Model
- Serial No of the unit
- IP or access details to the system
Analyzer
For now, we'll just link Ops Center Analyzer with Detailed view. For an indepth guide to setup your storage array in Ops Center Analyzer take a look at our Probe Quick Setup Guide.
Protector
For now, we'll link our storage array with our Ops Center Install. In a production environment you'll most likely use the Probe Server at the local site, instead of your Ops Center Server itself. To setup your ISM (Intelligent Storage Machine) probe check out our Probe Quick Setup Guide.
If you click into Analyzer, head over to 'Administration' and select the '+'
You can select a Storage Node Type and then a Hitachi block Device
You can then specify a name, select a proxy node on the next step. This can be a probe server or the Ops Center server depending on your setup.
For the Meta data directory you can specify /data or /home typically.
When specifying the device you can use an IP command device and point it to an controller or SVP
On the credentials for the device. You should specify a username and password thats compatible with raidcom.
You can specify your CMRest server that was setup in the Automator section. Using a local username and password.
Once youre happy with all the configuration parameters you can finalize the Storage Node addition by hitting Finish.
